Playful and unconventional eye makeup is set to be huge in 2019.
This will be great news for those of you who enjoy getting creative with your makeup.
    Need some inspiration?
Here are a few playful eye makeup ideas to try:
    • Experiment with the cat eye, not only trying out different shapes and angles, but also pairing it with unexpected colors
    • Go for a modern look with a bold dot of color just underneath your lower lash line
    • Give color blocking a try. Pastel palettes are especially on-trend for 2019
    • Have fun with your eyeliner, applying this in unusual places and experimenting with different colors, such as neon shades

      2. Gloss, Gloss and More Gloss

For those of you feeling the dryness that the matte lipstick trend brought about, you will be happy to know that, this year, it's now all about glossy lips.
This is the complete opposite of the recent ultra-matte trend, so now is the time to take advantage of the many hydrating glossy lip formulas out there.
One interesting thing to note is that 2019 will see gloss on more than just the lips...
Cheek glosses are becoming increasingly popular. These give the skin an almost glass-like finish, creating a beautiful luminous glow. Their consistency is usually that of a lightweight balm, and while it does absorb into the skin, its slick and glossy finish remains on the surface all day.

How is a cheek gloss different from a highlighter?
Well, highlighters usually have quite a pearlescent, or even a metallic, finish to them. On the other hand, a gloss has a wetter finish, giving your skin a naturally dewy look.

    • 3. A Dramatic Floating Crease

    • The floating crease is nothing new, but 2019 will see the floating crease becoming more dramatic than ever.
    • What exactly is a floating crease?
It's basically when you use makeup to draw attention to your eyelid crease. It usually involves a base of eyeshadow, after which you would use a darker shadow, or an eyeliner, to draw an arch just above your natural crease.
As you can see from the hashtag on Instagram, so many people gave this look a try in 2018. Now that it has become a little more mainstream, 2019 will see people experiment with more dramatic versions of the floating crease.
Expect to see everything from neon and glitter to hand-drawn art adorning eyelid creases all over the world in 2019.

    • 4. Shimmer, Instead of Glitter

    • Glitter was a huge makeup trend back in 2018, but 2019 tones this down a bit, with a shimmer being more appropriate than full-on glitter.
A shimmer gives your face a subtle glimmer, rather than the emphasized sparkle that glitter provides.
Which shimmery makeup products should you be going for?
The most popular for 2019 include:
      • Eyeshadows
      • Eye liners
      • Blushes
      • Bronzers
      • Lipsticks

      5. Deep Red Lips

Red lips are such a classic look, and is one that will never really go out of style.
However, each year throws different shades of red into the limelight, and recent years have seen the brighter and lighter shades really stand out.
This is where things are changing in 2019...
Deep red lips are the way to go this year, with popular shades including:
      • Bordeaux
      • Berries
      • Almost-black reds
      • Brown-based reds
      • Plums and purples
As mentioned earlier, glossy lips are another key makeup trend for 2019, but if you would prefer to go for a subtler finish for your red lips, try a “blotted velvet” texture instead. There are quite a few brands out there now offering blotted lipsticks. These give you a freshly-blotted finish, but without you having to actually blot your lips.

    • 6. Flushed Cheeks

    • Many makeup artists would agree that blush is quite an underrated makeup product, but 2019 looks ready to change this.
    • Blush is now being brought into the spotlight, and for good reason too!
Not only does a blush add some extra color and dimension to the face, but it can also highlight, contour and give you a rosy glow.
Never quite sure how to apply blush?
This all depends on the type of look you are going for, but here are a few tips:
      • For a natural look – dab your blush onto the apples of your cheeks
      • For a dramatic look – try draping your blush from your temples down across your cheekbones
      • For a rosy flush – apply your blush just under your eyes, so that it is higher up on your cheeks, and then blend it in well. Cream or gel formulas tend to be best for this look
      • For a sculpted look – blush can be used to contour your face. Simply apply it onto, and above, your cheekbones, in the same areas you would usually place a highlighter
With so many different blush formulas and shades now available, this is such a versatile makeup product. This will make it so much easier for people to incorporate more blush into their makeup routines in 2019.
The makeup trends for 2019 are all quite wearable, with many of them being classic looks. Have fun experimenting with the different styles listed, as this is key when it comes to finding a way to make each of those trends your own.
